Rifabutin Is Inactivated by Mycobacterium abscessus Arr
نویسندگان
چکیده
Mycobacterium abscessus exhibits arr (ADP-ribosyltransferase)-dependent rifampin resistance. In apparent contrast, rifabutin (RBT) has demonstrated promising activity in M. infection models, implying that RBT might not be inactivated by Arr.

Rifabutin Is Active against Mycobacterium abscessus Complex
Lung infections caused by Mycobacterium abscessus are emerging as a global threat to individuals with cystic fibrosis and to other patient groups. Recent evidence for human-to-human transmission worsens the situation. M. abscessus is an intrinsically multidrug-resistant pathogen showing resistance to even standard antituberculosis drugs, such as rifampin. Here, our objective was to identify exi...
متن کاملEpidural abscess caused by Mycobacterium abscessus
BACKGROUND Mycobacterium abscessus is a member of the Rapidly Growing Mycobacterium (RGM). The incidence of Mycobacterium abscessus infections has steadily been increasing over the last decade. We report the case of an epidural abscess caused by Mycobacterium abscessus. RGM's have infrequently been reported as spinal infections and we found no prior cases reporting M. abscessus as the definitiv...

samples in age groups highlighted a relative homogeneity throughout the corresponding cohort. Our study shows that PARV4 infection is readily detectable in French blood donors. Prevalence results using probe PARV4-O were comparable to those obtained in previous studies involving healthy persons originating from various countries (4–6). Conversely, the high prevalence obtained by using probe PAR...

We studied the taxonomic positions of the rapidly growing organism Mycobacterium fortuitum and phenotypically related organisms. We confirmed that “Mycobacterium peregrinum” ATCC 14467T (T = type strain) is genetically independent of M. fortuitum ATCC 6841T by using various DNA hybridization conditions. Strains that were genetically identified as “M. peregrinum” were phenotypically differentiat...
متن کاملMycobacterium abscessus subsp. abscessus Is Capable of Degrading Pseudomonas aeruginosa Quinolone Signals
Pseudomonas aeruginosa employs 2-heptyl-3-hydroxy-4(1H)-quinolone (the Pseudomonas quinolone signal, PQS) and 2-heptyl-4(1H)-quinolone (HHQ) as quorum sensing signal molecules, which contribute to a sophisticated regulatory network controlling the production of virulence factors and antimicrobials. We demonstrate that Mycobacterium abscessusT and clinical M. abscessus isolates are capable of de...
